With everyone always home, constantly cooking and eating, the sink is hardly ever empty of dirty dishes. It’s really nothing to stress over if you have a dishwasher, which has become a must-have during the pandemic. It has made life so much easier for many and the convenience it provides has encouraged more creativity and fun in the kitchen.

If you are considering buying a dishwasher, you probably have some questions. To help you out, we’ve compiled answers to those frequently asked.

1. Is using a dishwasher better than handwashing?

Using a dishwasher saves time and manpower. Smeg dishwashers can go beyond simply washing with their capability to heat water to 70 degrees celsius. This is the temperature required for sanitization, to remove not just food but bacteria as well. Human hands cannot handle water this hot. Also, Smeg dishwashers consume approximately ten times less water than handwashing.

2. How does a dishwasher work?

Spinning spray arms pump water around the dishwasher cavity. Depending on the settings, the water may be hot or not. Detergent is released automatically. Smeg dishwashers use either the orbital wash system or the planetarium wash system.

The orbital wash system is a feature that consists of a double spray arm with contra-action rotation which distributes water evenly throughout the cavity for excellent wash quality and a greatly reduced noise level.
