No matter the season, there’s no running away from dirty dinnerware, glassware, cutlery, and cookware. Unless you have a Smeg dishwasher.

Whatever the occasion may be, with a Smeg dishwasher, you can focus on the fun and leave the tough job to the expert. The Smeg dishwasher not only cleans better (it has a program with an anti-bacteria rinse), it also conserves water (consumes 90% less!).

How you use your Smeg dishwasher impacts the washing results. Loading is most crucial. To get it right, here are some tips:

Lower basket

The lower basket receives the full force of the lower spray arm so items that are most difficult to clean should be placed here. Large items can be accommodated in the lower basket by adjusting the height of the top basket.

All types and combinations of loads are permitted as long as the dishes, pots and pans are arranged with all the soiled surfaces exposed to the water jets coming from the bottom. Position plates vertically, leaving gaps in between. Pots, pans and their covers must be loaded with the opening or any cavity facing downwards or at an angle, to allow the water to drain out.

Upper basket

The upper basket is ideal for small and medium-sized items such as glasses, cups, small plates, shallow bowls, and light objects made from heat-resistant plastic.

The left side of the basket can be loaded with cups and glasses on two levels. Do not place glasses too close together because they may knock against each other and break, or there might be staining at the point where they touch. Load them upside down. In the center section, plates and saucers can be loaded vertically, facing forward. Make sure that the dishes are securely in place so they don’t tip over or obstruct the rotation of the spray arms during the washing cycle.

Cutlery basket

The cutlery basket slides across the dishwasher and can be placed in any position to allow optimal use of the space in the lower basket.

The cutlery basket has removable top grids where cutlery should be inserted to keep them properly spaced and allow water to effectively pass between them. Placement should be orderly with the handles pointing downwards. Do not include cutlery that are too long and may interfere with the movement of the upper spray arm. Instead, you may put ladles, wooden spoons, and cooking knives in the upper basket.

Avoid placing very small objects in the baskets as these could fall and obstruct the spray arms or the wash pump.

It is recommend that the dishwasher be operated fully loaded. Typically, the Smeg dishwasher can accommodate a dozen place settings. Smeg dishwashers are available in freestanding and built-in models.
